Our patient family includes women who come here seeking additional breast surgery to improve the disappointing results of earlier procedures performed elsewhere. Revisional breast surgery in Kentucky may include replacing breast implants, revising the pocket that the implant sits within, removing excess skin or fat, excising hardened areas, repositioning nipples, revising scars or a combination of several of these methods.

At the Cosmetic Breast Center, women are sometimes concerned that revisional surgery may not completely "fix" their cosmetic concern. Our skilled Kentucky plastic surgeons have many years of experience and advanced training to deal with the issues that arise when revising a prior breast augmentation, breast lift, or other breast surgery. To learn how they can help you, request a consultation or call 502.814.3001 to schedule your visit and learn more about this procedure.

Process

The exact process of your plastic surgery procedure, after-surgery care and recovery are specific to each patient. Generally, revisional surgeries are outpatient procedures lasting from one to three hours under general anesthesia, with the expectation of some discomfort and swelling that follow any surgical procedure. Patients are encouraged to have a responsible adult drive them home after the procedure and provide two days or so of in-home care. The schedule for resumption of normal activities and the risk profile is similar to other Kentucky breast enhancement procedures, with variations to suit each patient's situation.

Often Asked

Q. Will the things that I don't like about my first surgery change without more surgery?

Complications and unsatisfactory results can occur, despite the best efforts of your other plastic surgeon. Some work out over time without revisional surgery. Occasionally the effects are permanent and may need additional surgery to improve the final appearance of your breasts.

Q. If I am unhappy with my implants and just want them removed, how will my breasts look?

A. Information published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says that, following removal of breast implants, "the appearance of the breasts may not be desirable or pleasing" after surgery. The ASPS says that common problems would be asymmetry, drooping, dimpling or puckering of the breast skin, and older patients or those with larger implants may have additional cosmetic deformity.
