And instead of applying a single, uniform beam of light to rejuvenate your skin, the Fraxel laser distributes thousands of tiny microbeams into the skin. The Procedure

A comfortable, quick procedure, each Fraxel session lasts about one hour for most of our patients, with some additional time needed for the local topical anesthetic to take effect. A mild, temporary stinging sensation is the most discomfort you should expect during treatment. The Fraxel wand is passed over wrinkled, aged skin, releasing highly-targeted laser beams into the treatment area.

Fraxel is a "non-ablative" skin rejuvenation technology, meaning that it does not damage or remove surface layers of skin. Instead, it produces rapid rejuvenation in deeper skin layers, which over time causes your skin to look and feel smoother and younger. A. Your skin may look a little red for about a day after treatment, and it's your choice whether to take the rest of the day off to rest or return to your usual activities. As always, it is essential to wear proper sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and minimize sun exposure, especially for the few weeks after each treatment as old skin flakes off and your rejuvenated skin begins to surface with a healthier, more youthful glow.

Q. How Long Will My Results Last?

A. You should begin to see improvements to skin tone and smoothness about a week after treatment, but because Fraxel laser treatments cause regeneration of collagen, continued improvement can be expected for up to 6 months after treatment. After that, without follow-up treatments your skin will begin to return to its pre-treatment state.
