Cellulite Treatments

It is estimated that 80 to 90% of all women over the age of 20, regardless of weight or body shape, have cellulite. Cellulite is an irregularity in skin texture characterized by a mottled, dimpled appearance of the skin. This appearance has been described as an “orange peel” or “cottage cheese.” This condition is most commonly seen in women, with cellulite most apparent in the thighs, hips, and buttocks, but occasionally is present in the “love-handle” waist region in men.

At CaloAesthetics® Plastic Surgery Center, many women ask us about cellulite removal treatments when they visit from Louisville and Lexington, KY, and Floyds Knobs, IN. The fact is that today, women have more effective options than ever before. Request a consultation today or call (502) 899-9979 to schedule your visit and learn more about cellulite reduction.

Choosing Cellulite Treatments

Cellulite is caused by the presence of chambers of fat immediately below the skin that become swollen. As the fat content increases, the surrounding tissue becomes compressed and hardened, reducing blood circulation and trapping fluid within the columns of fat, thus worsening the clinical appearance. These columns of fat are separated by vertical fibrous bands of reduced elasticity which create depressions and dimples in the skin, resulting in the appearance of cellulite. The appearance of cellulite can be reduced to varying degrees with invasive procedures, such as liposuction, external ultrasound (performed by Dr. Calobrace or Dr. Quintero). To learn about skin tightening through radiofrequency technology, view our EMTONE® page.

Avéli™

Avéli is a minimally-invasive treatment that has been cleared by the FDA to treat cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. It works by severing the septa, the fibrous bands that pull down skin and give cellulite its “cottage cheese” appearance.

The Avéli treatment only takes an hour to complete, and your provider uses a local anesthetic to improve comfort during the treatment, so the procedure is quick and comfortable. During the treatment, the handheld Avéli device is inserted into the skin and the septa bands are severed during the treatment. You will see smoother skin and less cellulite within a few weeks after just one treatment.
