Improvements From a Thigh Lift

About the Thigh Lift Procedure

Our surgeons may perform thigh lift surgery as an outpatient procedure in our private surgery suite or in a hospital with an overnight stay. Liposuction is used to reduce areas of residual fat. Loose skin is tightened through incisions placed in areas where the scars are least likely to be noticed such as vertically along the inner thighs or within a crease in the groin. Thigh lift surgery is best performed by experienced plastic surgeons such as Dr. Calobrace, Dr. Mizuguchi, and Dr. Mays, who understand proper placement of the incisions to minimize tension on the sutures.

What to Expect During Recovery

After your surgery, you will wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and support the new contour of your thighs as you heal. It's common to have bruising and swelling that may last about a month. Incisions will be closed with deep sutures that dissolve within 4 months and surface sutures that will be removed approximately 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.

Return to Work

Patients are typically ready to return to non-strenuous jobs in 2 to 3 weeks and all regular activities within 4 to 6 months.
